Trust: Your Website’s Key to a Larger Customer Base

Twitter handles for Search Engine ProfessionalsWhat inspired me to write this four-part series about trust was a trip to the Search Engine Strategies Chicago conference November 12-15. During those three days I received more inspiration combined with instruction than ever before in my life. Throughout the event, the message I heard repeated from seminar to seminar was that to have a successful website you need to personalize for your visitors and create trust by being genuine in your delivery.

I know what you’re thinking: “Gasp! You’re telling me that to have success as a business, I have to care about my customers and provide them with simple, honest information and solutions? Preposterous!

Okay, so it’s not really that shocking.  It’s actually a common-sense message that speaks directly to the same philosophies I live by, and I knew it was something that I had to share with the clients I work with, so they could improve communication with their own customers.

I have identified three main points with a common thread to help you remember them: they all start with the letter C!

The three C’s that the subsequent posts will discuss are:

The Human Connection in a Technological World

As society continues to move further into the digital age, where more and more things are becoming convenient, automated and easily obtained, it is the trust we build in the relationships we create that will sustain us for the future. The technologies we use to connect with our audience do not have the ability to trust us. Trust is a human belief. and losing sight of that can negatively impact any objective you may have. Work on building your trust with your audience, and you will see that audience grow as they carry your message further than you ever could on your own.

I’m always an advocate of giving credit where credit is due, so if you would like to follow any of the individuals on Twitter who helped me develop this message, you can find their handles in the personalized thank you doodlefest on the left.

Check in around this time next week to read about the first C: Consistency.
